EPS in Mold ConstructionIn-mold technology allows the outer polycarbonate shell to be molded directly with expandable polystyrene (EPS) during the injection phase of the shock-absorbing foam. The result is a much stiffer structure that is impact resistant, extremely lightweight, and allows for a better ventilation system. The combined action of the EPS structure, the polycarbonate cap and the exoskeleton creates a resistance to the mechanical action exerted by an impact and distributes the energy to prevent it from being transferred to the head of the person wearing the helmet.
